Elementary Principal's Welcome

Head of School and Elementary Principal Marcia Mackay gives Carter Rogillio a welcoming hug on the first day of school.

Dear Parents,

Welcome to Runnels Elementary! I am happy to have the chance to share with you just a little bit of what makes our school so unique.

Runnels has a long and rich history of offering educational programs of the highest quality and providing a course of study focused on the individual. Coupled with our school’s culture of kindness, understanding, and tolerance, this has created a learning environment that fosters academic achievement, social responsibility, and personal growth.

A walk through the halls and classrooms of our campus reveals not only the rigor of our academic day, but also the enthusiasm of our students for their classes and teachers. Our teachers are caring, energetic and inspirational. They provide creative and exciting lesson plans that engage their students’ imaginations and spark a love of learning.

I am also pleased to point out the prominence of arts education at Runnels. The arts offer a multitude of learning opportunities to our students while enriching their lives. The visual and performing arts will always be key elements in the Runnels curriculum.

As technology advances, we strive to make appropriate use of new ideas and tools. In the elementary school, a 1:1 technology initiative was launched for grades 4-6 in the 2016-2017 school year. I’m excited about the learning opportunities ahead for our students engaged in this new technology in and beyond the classroom.

At Runnels Elementary, you’ll discover an enthusiastic learning community where children can be comfortable, develop self-confidence, and experience the joy of learning in an atmosphere of mutual respect and appreciation of diverse opinions and cultures.  I hope you will join us as we continue to create an educational experience that is uniquely “Runnels”!
