Jr./Sr. High Library

Andy Mack Memorial Library

The Andy Mack Memorial Library, named in memory of a beloved Runnels student who died in a car accident in 1990, serves students in grades 7-12. The library, located in Novak Hall, has an informal “coffee house style” atmosphere where students can find a diverse collection of literature for reading and research. A full-time certified school librarian works collaboratively with faculty to assist students with information access.

The library subscribes to a variety of magazines, periodicals, journals and reference materials as well as Homework Louisiana, which features live homework help, a resource center, links to several Louisiana public library databases (available with a public library card), and free online tutoring. Using their public library cards, students also have easy access to East Baton Rouge Public Library, Ascension Public Library and Livingston Parish Public Library databases via the Internet. These resources may be accessed from the library, anywhere on campus, or from home.

The print and non-print collection includes thousands of items that may be located by using the online library catalogue,  Students can also search for books similar to those they have recently read through Multiple charging points are available in the library for student laptops.

The library also serves as a valuable study space. There is room for class seminars and meetings as well as comfortable reading and studying areas.

It is the goal of the high school librarian to provide a research base that enhances the academic pursuits of the student body, while building upon the deep love of reading nurtured in the Elementary Library.
